For a 32 Amp, 7kW or 11kW EV charger through Goulburn Murray Solar Savers the cost will be between $1730 - $2451 (excl gst). This includes the unit and standard installation costs.
This is the raw cost and BEFORE your government rebates have been applied. Solar Savers also will apply a pensioner discount if applicable. Note that if your property requires specialised installation works (ie three phase power, a bollard etc) these will need to be factored into your quote. 22kW three phase units are also available. |

i'm thinking of buying an ev. do i need an ev charger?
No. Most people will use the charging lead their EV comes with and 'trickle charge' from their general home outlets. They can do this efficiently with more electricity retailers offering special EV rates at certain times ie midnight to 6am. An EV charger offers quicker charging which is useful if you live in a regional area or do a lot of travelling for work.
how much more power does an ev charger provide?
A 7kW charger adds roughly 35-40km of range per hour, while a standard household outlet adds about 10-12km per hour. This means a 7kW charger will typically deliver a full charge overnight or in a few hours, depending on the vehicle's battery capacity.
do i have to install my ev charger under cover?
No, EV chargers can be installed outside. Most modern EV chargers are designed with weatherproof housings and high IP ratings, making them suitable for outdoor use. This allows for convenient charging even if your garage is full or your home lacks a garage.
what is ocpp compatability?
OCPP compatibility simply means the charger is compatible with other OCPP products. That means – if you need smart features in the future – a third party can easily add them.

what is the difference between tethered and untethered charging cables?
Having a charging cable that's too short can be a pain if you are a two car household and your cars have to park behind each other etc and you don't want to be forever switching vehicles around just to charge.
An untethered cable simply means the cable isn't fixed to the unit and you can BYO cable. Then you can jump online and buy a ‘Type 2 to Type 2’ charging cable long enough for your needs.
